Creating a shared vision by uniting local stakeholders to tackle plastic bag consumption

Single-use plastic bags contribute significantly to the pollution in South Africa posing a serious environmental challenge. Hence, there is need for comprehensive strategies reduce bag consumption. We report results of an online workshop aimed create positive, shared future vision. The was attended by 12 invited participants from diverse backgrounds and disciplines utilized collaborative approach propose framework reducing usage during grocery shopping Africa. findings suggest that combination economic, structural behavioral interventions necessary promote lasting behavior change, including financial incentives, broad introduction more environmentally friendly alternatives, promoting reuse.
